Chilli is perishable. Once it is harvested, a farmer without a buyer has to sell quickly, often at whatever price is offered. Market planning before planting avoids that position.
What to agree before you plant
- The product: fresh green, fresh red or dried chilli.
- The variety and quality requirements.
- Expected volumes and the harvest window.
- The delivery point, for example the RonaGrow Nakuru warehouse.
- How produce will be inspected and how and when payment is made.
Plant for the market window
Work back from when the buyer needs chilli to decide when to raise seedlings and transplant. Staggering planting dates can give a steadier supply instead of one large harvest.
Grow to the specification
A buyer specification is only useful if it guides decisions in the field: variety, nutrition, crop protection that respects MRLs, harvest stage and handling. Produce that does not meet the requirements may be rejected.
Keep communicating
Tell your buyer early if volumes or timing change. Reliable communication builds the trust that leads to better arrangements season after season.
Through structured offtake, RonaGrow works with qualifying growers to connect production to a market before the crop is planted. Learn more on our Market & Offtake page.
