Production and market access should not be treated as completely separate activities. RonaGrow is developing structured pathways for qualifying chilli growers to connect production with market opportunities.
Chilli Offtake
Where applicable, RonaGrow purchases qualifying chilli subject to agreed requirements. Produce must meet applicable quality and acceptance standards.
- Produce
Grow to the agreed variety, quality and crop-protection requirements.
- Deliver
Deliver to the RonaGrow warehouse or a designated related warehouse.
- Inspect
Produce is inspected against the applicable acceptance requirements.
- Check / Sieve
Chilli is checked and sieved for quality, cleanliness and foreign matter.
- Approve
Only chilli that meets the requirements is approved for purchase.
- Pay
Approved chilli is paid for under the applicable purchase arrangement.
From the Field to Delivery
Freshly harvested chilli, packed in clean sacks and ready for delivery and inspection.
Quality
Acceptance considers factors such as:
- Variety
- Maturity
- Physical condition
- Cleanliness
- Foreign matter
- Moisture where applicable
- Pest/disease damage
- Chemical-residue considerations
- Other market-specific requirements
The actual acceptance requirements are defined in the applicable farmer/producer agreement and purchasing communication.
Delivery
Chilli is paid for after delivery to the RonaGrow Nairobi warehouse or a designated related warehouse, subject to inspection and approval.
Transport arrangements and costs are handled separately according to the applicable purchase arrangement.
Rejected Produce
Only chilli that meets RonaGrow's applicable acceptance requirements is approved for purchase. Produce that is rejected during inspection is not paid for.
